Caleb Drummond is a Wichita native and a product of Wichita Heights High School and Friends University. He has been playing music since age fifteen; starting on the guitar. At age sixteen he started playing the electric and upright bass. In 2005, Caleb received a scholarship to Friends University, and graduated in 2010 with degrees in music performance and music business. Ensembles that Caleb participated in during his five-year stent at Friends included: Chamber Orchestra, Community Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensembles One and Two, Soulstice jazz combo, Vocal jazz combo, and numerous pit orchestras.
He continues to play jazz at local eateries such as Larkspur, The Hereford House, and Bella Luna with professionals such as Beau Jarvis, Randy Zellers, Craig Owens, Lisa Hittle, Riki Eto, Eric Brown, Jeff Stidhum, Kit Craig, Jason Whitmore, and Tat Hidano. Caleb also performs in a cover band called theWatchers with Michael Peltzer, Jenny Wood, and Dave Consiglio. Other current projects include Elephant Gun(modern rock), Japanese Game Show (indie rock), and The Project H (alternative jazz).
As a teacher Caleb has been giving private lessons since 2009. His general philosophy towards lessons is‘Figure out what works, for you.’ This means that He wants the lessons to be challenging and productive but also individualized for each person’s strengths. ‘Every person learns in different ways and at different speeds. What I try to do is figure out the best way to teach you what you want to know.’
