Bio:

Steve was born & raised in Wichita, where he graduated from Wichita High School East in 1978. He bought his first guitar at age 12, and started his professional career at age 13 on bass at venues around central Kansas.

Steve received a BA in music in 1984 from Cornish College in Seattle, Washington where he studied with such noted artists as Gary Peacock, Julian Priester, Gil Evans, Art Lande, Peggy Stern, Sam Rivers, Obo Adi, and many others.

Steve's performing & study experience is in most of the popular & esoteric ethnic styles of modern music, including not just rock, but funk, jazz, fusion, salsa, merengue, reggae, cumbia, soca, afro-pop etc. This is reflected in his teaching style.
