About Our Private Lesson Program
Playing a musical instrument is a thoroughly personal experience that allows you to share your individuality with others. No one will ever play quite like you. Whether you play in church or in a rock band, alone in your room or in a coliseum, Your Style on your instrument is unique.
We want to help you find and develop Your Style.
As lofty as that sounds, it’s really very simple: the more comfortable you are with music in general and your instrument in particular, the easier it is to express yourself musically. That’s why we try to offer a well-rounded program on all the instruments we teach. We don’t just drill students on scales and dry exercises. Of course we cover the technical basics, but there’s so much more: theory and harmony, ear training, elements of style, improvisation, and exposure to a wide range of musical idioms. The program is tailored to the individual, as only private instruction can be. Both teacher and student work to design a course that best suits the student’s pace, background, and interests.
Teaching Staff:
Our highly qualified teachers each have a background of thorough musical training, teaching expertise, and professional performance experience. Find more about our teachers on the "staff" page on this site. Typically you will have the same teacher every week, however a substitute may be required occasionally.
Tuition & Schedule:
There are two options for tuition and schedule.
1) Monthly: Lessons are $80 per month. You choose a permanent lesson day and time that is then reserved for you every week. Each weekly lesson is 30 minutes. The month’s tuition is due at the first lesson of the month.2) Single: Single lessons are $24 per 30-minute lesson. You choose specific days and times, but not on a regular re-occurring basis. Payment for the lesson(s) is due at scheduling.
Attendance:
Students are expected to attend all lessons. There will be several months that have a 5th lesson, we use this extra lesson to account for holidays when the store is closed and your vacation or illness should you need it. Naturally, there will be times when illness or transportation problems will unavoidably alter your schedule. Rescheduling your lesson IS NOT a Guaranteed possibility, however, if we are notified at least one day in advance, we will make an effort to reschedule depending upon your teacher’s availability. If a cancellation is made after hours or the day of the lesson, rescheduling is not an option. WE DO NOT RESCHEDULE LESSONS DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER (snow, tornado, etc.).
Student Showcases:
Student Showcases offer our students an opportunity to perform in public. The Showcases are held at various times throughout the year and students are highly encouraged to participate in at least one each year. There are no additional fees for participating in the Showcase.
