What Is Jazz Academy?
The Jazz Academy is a performance-based jazz program designed for beginners. It combines weekly private music lessons with weekly group rehearsals. Students learn jazz fundamentals, develop technical skills on their instrument, and rehearse as part of a real band preparing for a live concert.
Program Features
Private Jazz Lessons – One-on-one instruction with experienced instructors tailored to the student’s instrument and skill level.
Group Jazz Band Rehearsals – One-hour weekly rehearsals that teach ensemble playing, rhythm, improvisation, and teamwork.
Live Performances – Each session ends with a concert, giving students the chance to showcase their progress on stage.
This structure gives students the individual attention they need to grow, along with the motivation and fun of being part of a team.
Session Schedule
Damm Music Center offers Jazz Academy in three sessions throughout the year. New students are welcome to join at any time.
Spring Session: January – May
Summer Session: June – August
Fall Session: September – December

Jazz Academy: Summer 2025
Thursday Session Info:
Skill Level: Beginning Jazz Band (7th-10th Grade)
Instructor: Cole Ashcraft
Rehearsal Times: Thursdays 6pm to 7pm
Rehearsal Schedule: Every Thursday June 5th through August 14th
Sign-ups: Close Monday June 2nd.
Private Lesson: Day, Time & Teacher will be determined on an individual basis when you sign up.
Tuition: $169.00/month for 3 months (includes weekly private lesson)
$89/month for Rehearsal Only Option (without Private Lessons)
Concert Schedule: Monday August 14th, 6pm at Damm Music Center
