Rock Academy – Beginner Rock Music Lessons & Band Program at Damm Music Center
Looking for beginner rock music lessons for kids in Wichita? Our Rock Academy at Damm Music Center is an exciting, performance-based program where students learn to play in a real rock band, no band experience required.
What Is Rock Academy?
Rock Academy is designed for younger students with some experience who want to learn how to play rock music and perform on stage. Each student gets a weekly private music lesson on their instrument, plus a weekly group band rehearsal where they learn to play as part of a live rock band.
Students work together to prepare an awesome live concert at the end of each session.
Program Features
Private Rock Lessons – One-on-one weekly lessons tailored to the student’s instrument, skill level, and goals.
Group Rock Band Rehearsals – Weekly rehearsals where students learn how to collaborate, build setlists, and prepare for live performance.
Live Concert Performance – At the end of each session, students take the stage as part of a real band and perform a full concert for friends and family.
This combination of individual instruction and team rehearsals helps students build skills faster, stay motivated, and have a blast while learning music.
Session Schedule
Rock Academy runs in three seasonal sessions each year at Damm Music Center, and students can join at any time.
Spring Session: January – May
Summer Session: June – August
Fall Session: September – December

Instruments We Teach
Our Rock Academy welcomes students who play guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and voice. All instruments are essential to the rock band experience.

Damm Music Center is located in Wichita, Kansas, and proudly serves young musicians from Wichita and surrounding areas looking for a fun and inspiring way to learn music.

Summer Session at Somewhere Works
(2 Hour Rehearsals):
- Instructor: Cameron Alhstrom
- Skill Level: Experienced
- Bands: 5 - 7 Students Grouped by Music Taste, Age, and Ability.
- Rehearsal Location: Somewhere Works (235 N Emporia Ave, Wichita, KS)
- Rehearsal Times:
- Saturdays 10:00a - 12:00p
- Rehearsal Schedule:
- Saturdays Jun. 13th - Aug. 15th
- Saturdays Jun. 13th - Aug. 15th
- Private Lesson: Day, Time & Teacher will be determined on an individual basis.
- Tuition: $189/month for 3 months ($219/month with Lessons)
- Concert Schedule:
- Sunday, Aug. 16th. 2:00p, with our other Rock Academy and Adult Band Groups!
