Tracy Keraly
Teaches Music Lessons For:
- Cello
Tracy started cello lessons at age 9. She obtained her BA in Music Performance from California State University, Long Beach. While in CA, she played in community orchestras, pit orchestras for musicals, weddings, and church programs, and gave private lessons.
After moving to Kansas, Tracy became First Chair cellist for the Winfield Symphony, under the direction of Gary Gackstatter. This orchestra accompanied the Paul Winter Consort in the Prairie Man concerts in the Flint Hills several years in a row. The Symphony also played some pops concerts at the Orpheum, The Crown Theater and The Brown Center, with the following guest artists: Three Dog Night, Kansas, Don McLean and artists who were featured in the Walnut Valley Blue Grass Festival. While in Winfield, Tracy taught privately, coached Winfield High cello sectionals in preparation for competitions, and contracted/played weddings.
While residing in Rio Rancho, New Mexico in 2008 and 2009, Tracy was a fulltime substitute teacher of General Classroom Music (K-5) for Stapleton Elementary, and enjoyed teaching their 900 students.
Back in Wichita since 2009, Tracy has continued to teach, play in pit orchestras for The Forum Theater (under the direction of Tim Raymond) and participate in large Holiday church programs.
"My favorite memory is the opportunity I had to play with The Carpenters last U.S. performance, when they performed with their alma mater – the university I attended in CA. Though most of my experience has been in classical symphonies, my personal bias is for jazz and pop music!"
